Came back for a late afternoon session. This time the 4.5 was perfect to
begin with. Had 2 runs and then the wind completely died.
I was half way across the bay when the wind died so I was left stranded in
the middle of the bay drifting downwind towards the end of the bay. There
wasnt enough wind to waterstart so I struggled on and eventually made it to
the shore where I had a couple of 100 metres walk of shame across some
rocks to begin with. The same happened to 1 or 2 other guys but the guys on
slightly bigger boards made it back fine. I would of been fine on an 80
litre board but the 72 litre board I got was just sinking. Very anonoying
when 1 other guy had the same board as me and he got back in fine but he
was quite a bit smaller and weighed less than me.
After finally getting to test my board properly, I dont think I'l get away
with a 5.4 with my 72l board. The biggest sail I could use would be around
5.0m I think.
As I was deriggin, the wind returned and everyone went back out again but I
couldnt be bothered as I was so pissed off. Not sure if its the board or
what but im not a big fan of this site so time to move back to the South
island I think.
